Nordic Youth Chess Championship 2025

Welcome to the Nordic Youth Championship 2025, hosted by the Icelandic Chess Federation.
Location and accommodation
The tournament and the accommodation will take place in Hotel Borgarnes (www.hotelborgarnes.is). Same venue as in 2019.
Borgarnes is in the west coast of Iceland – 77 kilometres distance from Reykjavik. The distance from Keflavik airport is 116 km or about 1½ hour drive.
Travel
We recommend rental cars. Fastest, easiest and cheapest. Easy roads to drive between Keflavik airport and Borgarnes. We can arrange minibuses for teams if wanted. Please let us know with at least week notice.
Tournament rules
Six rounds using the Swiss system. Each player gets 90 minutes with a 30 second increment for every move. The tournament is divided into five age groups, from A to E, with a maximum of two players per country in each group.
Class A: For players turning 18, 19 or 20 years 2025.
Class B: For players turning 16 or 17 years 2025.
Class C: For players turning 14 or 15 years 2025.
Class D: For players turning 12 or 13 years 2025
Class E: For players turning 11 (or younger) years 2025.

The schedule is subject to change if necessary. The final schedule will be published after the registration deadline.
Costs
As per the latest regulations of the Nordic Chess Federation – every nation is paying their own cost. The ICF will invoice shortly after the tournament and every federation is supposed to pay the invoice no later than February 21st.
Accommodation and full board for every person between February 13th-17th (players, captains and accompanied persons) should be paid by federation.
The prices are as follows:
Four persons room – pr. person ISK 50.000
Triple rooms – pr. person ISK 60.000
Double rooms – pr. person ISK 65.000
Single room ISK 90.000
