With forty players from the Nordic countries this certainly will be a very exciting event.<\/p>\n<p>The players and accompanying persons joined at dinner before the first round.<br \/>\nThe vice president of the Icelandic Chess Federation, J\u00f3hanna Bj\u00f6rg J\u00f3hannsd\u00f3ttir, opened the tournament with a short speech and with that said all 20 games began. All the games are broadcasted live online, with a 15-minute delay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Class A<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-71\" src=\"https:\/\/skak.is\/nmgirls\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2024\/04\/r1-a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"665\" height=\"162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/skak.is\/nmgirls\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2024\/04\/r1-a.jpg 665w, https:\/\/skak.is\/nmgirls\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2024\/04\/r1-a-300x73.jpg 300w, https:\/\/skak.is\/nmgirls\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2024\/04\/r1-a-600x146.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 665px) 100vw, 665px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No real upsets in Class A. Two players, Susanne Wiggen Larsson and Lidiia Soboleva, managed to get draws against higher rated opponents.
