The Nordic girl chess championship started today in Reykjav\u00edk, Iceland.
\nThe tournament is played in three age categories, A, B, and C respectively. With forty players from the Nordic countries this certainly will be a very exciting event.<\/p>\n

The players and accompanying persons joined at dinner before the first round.
\nThe vice president of the Icelandic Chess Federation, J\u00f3hanna Bj\u00f6rg J\u00f3hannsd\u00f3ttir, opened the tournament with a short speech and with that said all 20 games began. All the games are broadcasted live online, with a 15-minute delay.<\/p>\n

Class A
\n\"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

No real upsets in Class A. Two players, Susanne Wiggen Larsson and Lidiia Soboleva, managed to get draws against higher rated opponents. Other results were according to rating points.<\/p>\n

Class B
\n\"\"<\/strong>All the results in Class B were according to the rating points, other than Josefina Hellstrand who drew her game against higher rated Leia Andries.<\/p>\n

Class C
\n\"\"<\/strong>Halld\u00f3ra J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir won her game against higher rated Silja R\u00fan J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir. In all the other games higher rated opponents won their games.<\/p>\n

Round 2 will start at 9:00 Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
