The second day of the Nordic girl chess championship started at 09:00 in sunny Reykjavík. Hard fought games combined with smiles and good atmosphere.
Former president of the Icelandic Chess Federation, Guðfríður Lilja Grétarsdóttir, played the first move for top seed Margarita Zaritovskaja in Class A. Guðfríður Lilja is actually the originator of the Nordic girl championship, which dates back to 2007.
Class A
Margarita, the highest seed, took the lead with a win against Livia Lindstad.
Class B
Oda Kofoes Skramstad, Anna Sofie Li and Alice Xiong all won theiri games and are in the lead with 2 points.
Class C
Sol Andersson, Alina Shehzad, Githiha Sathish and Qianru Zhong won and have 2 points after round 2.
Round 3 starts at 15:00. Tonight the players will have dinner together and then a social event which everyone is excited about.
