Texti á ensku um fyrirlesturinn
In the fifties. Fridrik Olafsson, now 88, started the modern Icelandic chess revolution when he became a Grandmaster, a World Championship candidate and a national hero.
In 1976 he released a book with 50 selected games up to then. The Icelanders always told that Fridrik ‘s commentaries were maybe even better then those of world famous Bent Larsen.
But they only existed in the tiny Icelandic language. In 2021 finally „The Chess Saga of Fridrik Olafsson“ saw daylight, with 114 games from 1950 to 2013.
There are nice wins against many of the world’s greatest players, including four world champions.
Cowriter and publisher of this book, Øystein Brekke, will give a 45 minutes presentation about the book project and a unique chess career.
